Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) uses a camera to detect lane lines on the roadway and warns the driver if he or she leaves the marked lane without using the indicator. The warning is usually a beep and/or a visual blinking indicator on the dashboard or Heads-Up Display . Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS) Does everything above however if the driver doesn’t steer the car back into the lane after warnings, the system automatically takes steps to do it for them. Many systems apply torque to the steering wheel to steer the car away from the line.

LDWS/LKAS uses a camera to detect the lane lines on the road. The camera is usually mounted in the windshield near the rear view mirror , but can be difficult to find from the inside. The easiest way to find the camera is from outside your vehicle , LDWS/LKAS cameras will usually look like an upside-down fan/triangle. Most vehicles only have 1 camera , however some are equipped with 2.

If your wipers automatically turn on when raindrops come in contact with the windshield then you have a sensor. You can also check by looking from the outside of your vehicle – behind the rear view mirror. They are usually in the shape of a circle or a Square.
